HANTARO NAGAOKA (1865 - 1950 C.E.)

He disliked Thomsons model of the atom, and created his own. A model that resembled Saturn with its rings; the rings were the electrons and the sphere was the positive center. Hantaro's model was not accurate, and it was left to Bohr and Rutherford to fix that.

“An important difference between the present result and the empirical formulae must not be forgotten. When [the integer values are] very great, the difference between successive lines begins to diverge, but in the empirical formulae given by various investigators in this field of research, the frequency ultimately tends to a limiting value. It seems doubtful if very large values will ever be observed.” (Nagaoka, p.451)
